Words & Images for the Fourth of July

This being a holiday of great importance to this nation — and the celebration of the greatest document written by the hand of man >>

first, the beginning of the Declaration of Independence:

When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.–Such has been the patient sufferance of these Colonies; and such is now the necessity which constrains them to alter their former Systems of Government. The history of the present King of Great Britain is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute Tyranny over these States. To prove this, let Facts be submitted to a candid world.

And let us substitute “king of Great Britain” for “US Government” when it comes to the gay thing!

– and then — the images — for we have forgone language to simple images, as if we’re all children:

And boy do I — and boy do people get upset — and boy do I not give a rat’s tuckus.

“God Hates Fags” is OK, eh? So then is anything, absolutely anything we say is perfectly fine. Don’t like it — find a lake, ledge, cliff, or plane, and jump. Life is unfair, I’ve been told — and well, then, let’s make it more even then at least — want to come after gay citizens? Well, the best defense is a good offense, so here, let me begin!

Here, more succinct:

And well, the hetero nation should listen for once, and be silent — and here, an interesting quirk of our American language:

Shush, you theocrats, and listen in silence:

Here, the Bible on marriage:

And the prohibitions honored in the Breach, and not the observance, ye hypocrites:

And of course, a little reality of equality, for the mirth:

And because, well, it’ll rile folks up, let’s go for the gusto, nothing like a redneck gay guy, eh?:

Not to exclude some good humor:

And we should never forget a hunk, for our sense of calm:

Let us then remember that 2012 is going to be the “gay election” — for no subject will be more talked about — thought it is pointless, except among the theocrats — than gays in America:

And there, that wraps up the entire sentiment of gays in America on this Fourth of July, I do believe. Feel free to correct me if you think I’m wrong — other than that, let’s all enjoy the endless debate that the nation is going to have about us.

Have a happy people, enjoy the fireworks, and the barbecues, and do what you do — and let my people go!
